History

A.M.M. Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a co-educational English Medium school established in the year 1985 by the AMM Foundation, the philanthropic wing of the Murugappa Group, Chennai, involved in community service especially in the fields of health care and education.

When the school was started in 1985, the AMM family was already well known because of the philanthropic activities of late AMM Murugappa Chettiar. In fact the school represents the essence of the valuable contribution of the AMM family to society.

Imparting education to students from LKG to Std. XII, this institution stands out with its sylvan surroundings and an ambience conducive to learning. Commenced with a small student population in 1985, the AMM Matriculation Higher Secondary School follows a unique curriculum that provides a judicious mix of academics, vocational training and extracurricular activities that include sports, yoga, fine arts, etc. Further, a special emphasis placed on personality development, communication skills and character building ensures holistic development of the student. The school has a library well stocked with books and CDs, Science labs, Mathematics labs, Computer labs and an AV room with the latest equipment. An auditorium and a modern sports complex are the additional features of its infrastructure.

  • The strength of each class is kept to a manageable number, ensuring individual attention for each child.

  • All teachers are suitably qualified, trained and experienced. They are continuously put through various capacity building trainings and workshops to keep them abreast with the advances in not only their subject areas, but also in pedagogy.

  • Students learn with interest by observing and exploring, and exchange their findings with teachers and friends. These carefully designed activities are closely monitored and make learning a rewarding process.

  • The school has a counseling centre where a qualified professional counselor caters to the emotional needs of the child.

  • The school also has a career guidance cell to furnish adequate information about the various study and career options available.

  • The school has qualified and experienced special educators who cater to children with special needs by identifying and evaluating their needs and taking the necessary steps for remedial work.
