Filling and submission of application. |
| 1.1. |
|
Application for admission to the diploma programmes should be submitted
to the Principal, Murugappa Polytechnic, Chennai 600 062 only by the
designation and not by name. |
| 1.2. |
|
Last date for receipt of filled-in application is 10.06.2002. |
| 1.3. |
|
All entries in the application form must be written legibly by the
candidate in his / her own hand. |
| 1.4. |
|
The candidates are advised in their own interest, to send their
applications duly filled-in to the Principal by Regd. Post A/D. |
| 1.5. |
|
The application form should be used only by the candidate to whom it
was issued. |
| 2. |
|
Residential requirement |
|
|
Applications from candidates belonging to Tamilnadu only will be
considered for admission. |
| 2.1. |
|
However, the following categories of candidates are also eligible to
apply: Children of Central Government employees and children of persons
employed in registered joint stock companies, private or public or
Government recognised institutions not domiciled in this State may also
apply and compete with other candidates for admission irrespective of
their domicile provided the parent or guardian of the candidate is
employed for a period of 5 years (continuously) in this State at the time
of submission of application which should be supported by a certificate
from the employer of the parent or guardian. (The certificate should also
state that the person is a permanent employee of firm or institution
concerned) |

Certificate of the permanent residence should be produced by the
candidates who have passed their IX, X and HSC/I.T.I. or their equivalent
examination from high schools situated outside Tamilnadu for considering
them as candidates belonging to Tamilnadu. |

|
The candidates should satisfy the qualification, in the prescribed
qualifying examination, irrespective of the fact of the higher
qualification. |

The qualification detailed above are related to only with reference to
the study in Tamilnadu and the qualification and the eligibility of the
candidates who have studied in other States are to be got clarified from
the Directorate of School Education and the Directorate of Technical
Education. |

The candidates should not have completed the age as indicated below as
on 1st July 2002. |

Allocation of Seats |
|
|
Selection for admission shall be made under 5 categories namely Open
Competition, Backward Class Reservation, MBC/DC reservation, Scheduled
Caste Reservation and Scheduled Tribe Reservation following the rules of
Reservation of the Government of Tamilnadu. |

|
Candidates seeking admission against BC/ MBC&DC/SC/ST quota should
obtain a certificate of social status in the prescribed form (which is a
duly numbered and printed one) available with Revenue authorities
concerned. |
| 5.3. |
|
The candidates should furnish the particulars for Item No.6 of the
application form without fail. The candidates who have not furnished the
particulars for Item No.6 at the time of submission of the application
will be treated as belonging to OC. |
| 5.4. |
|
The candidates should produce at the time of admission the original
Community Certificate along the photocopy of the Community Certificate
duly attested by Officers of Grade A or B. |
|
|
NOTE: |
| a) |
|
No person who professes religion different from the Hinduism or Sikh
religion shall be deemed to be a member of a Scheduled Caste. |
| b) |
|
A member of Scheduled Caste on conversion to Christianity will be
considered only under Backward Class and not under Scheduled Caste. |
| c) |
|
A member of Scheduled Tribe will however continue to be treated as such
member irrespective of whether he / she is a convert to any religion or he
/ she is the candidate descended from such a convert. |
| d) |
|
A candidate who claims to belong to Scheduled Caste by virtue of
reconversion should give all and full details regarding date of
reconversion and whether the candidate on such reconversion is accepted by
members of the particular community of the locality where he / she resides
as belonging to the particular community which he / she claims to belong.
Reconversion from Christianity to Hinduism will be considered only if
notified in the Gazette before 1st July of the year of admission. |
| e) |
|
Candidates are warned that if the Community recorded in the Certificate
produced by them from the competent authority is not included in the list
of SC / ST / MBC & DC / BC given in the Annexure to the instructions
to the candidates or if the Community Certificate is not issued / signed
by the competent authority, they will not be considered as belonging to SC
/ ST / MBC & DC / BC as the case may be. They will be in that case
considered only along with Others and the privilege that have been given,
on the presumption that the candidate belonging to SC / ST / MBC & DC
/ BC as per the details given under the Item No.9 of the Application Form
will be withdrawn. The selection made already on the basis of Community
privileges will be cancelled and they will be ranked along with others. If
they are not qualified to be considered along with Others their
application will be treated as rejected. |
| f) |
|
The selection of SC, ST, MBC & DC and BC candidates under Open
Competion is in addition to the reservation made for them. |
| g) |
|
Permanent Community Certificate to ST should be issued only by the
R.D.O. concerned. |
| H) |
|
Permanent Community Certificate issued with State Gopuram Seal is alone
valid for admission purpose. |
| 6. |
|
Mode of Selection |
| 6.1.(a) |
|
HSC |
|
|
Selection of candidates for the Diploma Programmes will be made on the
basis of ranking of all the qualifying candidates in the order of total
marks secured out of 1200 by the candidates in the HSC examination or in
the qualifying examination and allocation of Community Reservation and
personal presence on the day of admission. In respect of candidates whose
maximum marks in the HSC or equivalent examination is more than or less
than 1200 as per scheme, the maximum marks shall be reduced to a base of
1200 and the rank arrived at along with other candidates. |
| (b) |

I.T.I. |
|
|
Selection of candidates for the diploma programmes will be made on the
basis of ranking of all the qualifying candidates in the order of total
marks secured out of 650. |
| 6.2. |
|
The candidates will be informed of their rank and time and the date of
their admission individually, depending on the probability of their
getting admission in the Polytechnic. In the event of failure to be
present in the institution by a candidate called for admission he/she will
forfeit the admission. |
| 6.3. |
|
The Diploma Programme of study will be allotted to a candidate at the
time of his / her admission based on his / her rank and Community
Reservation quota. |
| 6.4. |
|
The overall markwise rank list along with the Community of all
qualifying candidates applied for admission will be published on the
Notice Board of the Polytechnic for verification by the candidates one
week after last date for submission of application. |
| 6.5. |
|
The institution will not be responsible for non- receipt of
communication for admission sent by post. |

|
Regular Diploma Programmes shall be for 3 full academic years. No
candidate shall be eligible for the award of Diploma unless he/she has
undergone the prescribed programme of study for a period of 3 full
academic years. The courses of study shall be Theory, Practical and
Project work and shall be in accordance with the Curriculum & Syllabus
prescribed by the Institution. |
| 7.1.2. |
|
Sandwich Diploma Programmes will extend for a period of 3½ years (7
Semesters). Candidates admitted to Sandwich Programme will attend the
institution full time during I, II, IV, V and VII Semesters and will be
given industrial training in one of the related industries during III and
VI Semesters for 6 months each and attend the institution one day in a
week. The courses of study shall be Theory, Practical, Project work and
industrial training and shall be in accordance with the Curriculum &
Syllabus prescribed by the Institution. |

Original Certificates to be produced |
|
|
The following Original Certificates should be produced at the time of
admission. |
| a) |
|
HSC mark sheet or mark sheet issued by the concerned educational
authority for the qualifying examination. |
| b) |
|
Transfer Certificate in original from the Head of the Institution in
which the candidate had last studied. |
| c) |
|
Conduct Certificate in original from the Head of the institution in
which the candidate had last studied. |
| d) |
|
Community Certificate in orignal (Card) from the Revenue authorities
concerned in the case of BC.MBC & DC.SC.ST candidates. |

Other Important Points |
| 8.1. |
|
Inclusion of the name of guardian : candidates should note that only if
their parents are not alive, they should give the name of their guardian
and guardian's income. |

Liable rejection of application |
| 8.2.1. |
|
Applications received after the prescribed date and applications which
are not in proper form or which are not correctly filled-in or in respect
of which the prescribed certificates and documents are not received, on or
before the due date and applications which do not fulfil the terms of the
instructions to candidates will be considered defective and are liable for
rejection. |
| 8.2.2. |
|
A candidate should send only one application for admission. If more
than one application is received from the same candidate, all his / her
applications are liable for rejection. |
| 8.3. |
|
Joint Declaration |
|
|
Candidates selected for admission should submit Joint Declaration along
his/her parent/ guardian in the prescribed form available in the
institution at the time of admission. |

Correspondence |
|
|
The Registration number should be quoted in all correspondences
connected with the application and admission. |

|
Penaly for Canvassing etc |
| 9.1. |
|
Application of candidates who attempt to bring personal influence to
bear on the Principal will be summarily rejected. |
| 9.2. |
|
Applicants who produce false Community Certificates will become
punishable under the relevant provisions of I.P.C. Section 416, 420 etc.
Action will also be taken against the Officer who issued such a
certificate under relevant provisions of I.P.C. besides the relevant
service rules applicable to him |
