Extra-curricular
The
following Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities have been arranged to
create, develop and sustain many sided interest, right attitudes and personality
traits in our pupils.

Scout & Guides
|
|
|
| 450 Scouts & Guides students are given training
this year. 24 Scout students participated for Rajyapuraskar
Award for this year. 5 members were awarded the Rajyapuraskar
Award on 30.08.2005 at RajBhavan.
85 Guides and 75 Scouts participated in the Camp at Tonakela,
Avadi conducted by AMM Foundation.
M.S. Ganeshpathi received the Best State award for Scouts on
15.12.2005 at Sri Naradha Ghana Sabha, Chennai. |
NCC
 |
|
110 Students are enrolled as NCC candidates this year. On June 2nd this year 40 students and a teacher participated in the CATC camp at
A.M. Jain College, Meenambakkam, Chennai. 25 students were awarded
'A' Grade Certificates. |
JRC
 |
|
345 Students are participating in the Red Cross movement.
12 teachers are given training for them. Students are made aware of the environmental pollution and health hazards created by burning plastics. |
NSS
 |
|
50 students are entrolled in NSS this year. The students are given training in First Aid, AIDS Awareness, Literacy campaign and about the importance of rain water harvesting.
St John Ambulance Association, Tamil Nadu State has awarded a Silver Rolling Trophy for our school for training maximum number of students in First Aid. |
Nature Club
The Nature Club functions with 100 enthusiastic students and 8 Teachers. Training in
Vermiculture for natural manure
and Gardening Techniques are taught to the students.
LOE
Nearly 400 students are being trained under this LOE scheme. Tailoring practice is given to all the students. Embroidery works is also taught to them.
Educational Projects :

a) Under the auspices of nature
club vermiculture has been developed and maintained
b) With the guidance of National
Children Science Congress a project was carried out during the year 1999 - 2000 on "The
Impact of North Thermal Power Station and Prawn Culture on Pulicat Lake"
The project was presented at the National level competition held in Goa and S.Ahamed Anees, XI - A2 was listed
as Child Scientist.

Developing communicative skill has been taken up as a project by Tamil and English clubs.
Academic Results
In the Higher Secondary Common public Examination 2006, 379 students appeared and
371 have passed. The percentage of the passes works out to 97.9%. In X Standard Public Examination
562 students appeared of which 548 have passed. The percentage of passes works out to
97.5%.
Different types of scholarships are given to students
belonging to various communities.
Several Endowment schemes are also functioning for the benefit of the top rankers.
Incentive awards to Teachers are also given every year who produce 100% results in their respective classes.
The school caters to the needs of the poor people in and around Thiruvottiyur.
Our aim is not only to get good results in public
examinations but also to develop an all round personality in our pupils.
This has led to a considerable improvement in their thinking, reading and
writing skills.

Learning
The Syllabus framed by Education, Science and Technology
Department of Government of TamilNadu is being followed from VI Std. to
XII Std. in Tamil and English medium classes.
| Annual
competitions |
: |
Annual
competitions are conducted for all students in Tamil and English to
exhibit their talents in elocution, essay writing, poetry writing, music
and drawing. Books and certificates are awarded during the Annual Day
function to students standing first, second and third in each standard. |
| General
Proficiency |
: |
Those
students who score the highest mark in each subject in the Annual
Examination - Stds. X and XII - are awarded prizes and certificates
during the Annual Day function. |
| Exhibition |
: |
An
Exhibition is also conducted every year as Project Day function for 2
days to exhibit the talent of
students in the work experience. Prizes are awarded for the best twenty
exhibits. |
| Sports
day |
: |
Intramural
tournaments and sports are conducted every year to develop the team
spirit and leadership qualities. Prizes and medals are awarded at the
Sports day function.
Every student competes for championship awards at District level meets. |
